The Baptism of the Lord

In assembly this week we are reflecting on the Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan by John the Baptist.  We have been listening to the Gospel from last Sunday

Mark 1:7-11   (NIV)

And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with[a] water, but he will baptize you with[b] the Holy Spirit.”

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Mr Garrido talks to year eight about our Mission

On Wednesday Mr Garrido spoke to Year Eight about the mission we accept when we are baptised.  It is for all of us to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.

To tie in with this, Year Seven have been looking at signs and symbols.  Miss Poole and Mrs Ahmad have bought their Year Seven classes into chapel where Deacon Tony has taken them through a baptism, using all the signs and symbols used in the liturgy
